Bigelow Laboratory For Ocean Science

East Boothbay, Maine

The mission of the Bigelow Labs is to investigate the microbial drivers of global ocean processes through basic and applied research, education, and enterprise.  To advance that mission, the Laboratory created a state-of-the-art campus on a 62-acre wooded site overlooking the Damariscotta River.  The Laboratory consist of three interconnected research buildings along with a shorefront facility and dock.  The campus balances functionality with environmental preservation and shoreline access.

Our team led a collaborative effort through site design, permitting, and construction.  The campus is the first scientific research lab in Maine to achieve LEED Platinum status.
