Loring House
Portland, Maine
A contemporary vision for the landscape at Loring House brought renewed life to the former City hospital that had been transformed into public housing. The interior courtyard was improved with the removal of overgrown vegetation and the addition of an outdoor dining area, perennial beds, and a redefined drop-off circle. The rear yard, which sits in the shadow of one of Portland’s largest oak trees, is enhanced with a formal picnic area and pergola built into the gentle slope.
