Transmission Infrastructure
VIEWSHED works with public utilities, engineering firms, environmental scientists, architectural historians, and other technical consultants to prepare VIAs for new and upgraded transmission lines and electrical substations. In the course of our work, we identify scenic resources that may be affected, evaluate mitigation measures to reduce visual impacts, prepare screening and mitigation plans, and testify before regulatory agencies. Our VIAs include high-quality visual simulations, detailed analyses of project routes, and objective descriptions of visual impacts.
Expert Witness Testimony
We provide written and in-person expert witness testimony in support of our visual impact assessment findings. We have provided testimony to local planning boards, Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Maine Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC), and New Hampshire Site Evaluation Commission (SEC).
